Abstract
A low-cost, simply designed and minimized size of Long Backfire Antenna (LBFA) is presented. Such models are required in space and mobile communication systems, radars and some wireless communications which use frequencies in X-band. In this paper, there are two types of models of LBFA are proposed. These models show excellent enhanced outcomes of properties when compared with a conventional LBF Heristov-Taylor’s results. LBFA radiation pattern depends on the amplitude distribution of near field in the virtual aperture which is described, taking account of shade effect of the smaller reflector. MATLAB programming was utilized. The results proved that the enhancement in characteristics at 10 GHz is obtained when using these models of LBFA in optimal dimension with VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio) ˂2, return loss of 23.127dB with mismatch loss of 0.02dB and reflection coefficient of 0.07.
